The music league of record — Atlanta
You know it when you hear it, even if you can't define it — and nobody can, which is the beauty of it. It's the sound of a 2003 Ford F-150 with a Monster Energy decal. It's a man in a barbed-wire tattoo and frosted tips howling about his pain into what is, acoustically, his own butt cheeks. It's the song that scored the WWE pay-per-view, the Mountain Dew commercial, and your buddy's worst breakup, all in the same week. The riffs were free, the feelings were enormous, and the parking lot was always half-empty. No irony, no shame — submit the pinnacle of Nothing-But-Rock. Lean into the golden era — Creed, Nickelback, Seether, 3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, Staind, Theory of a Deadman, Default, Trapt. Raspy vocals, drop-D power chords, a chorus built to be screamed in a parking lot. The cheesier the conviction, the better. Bonus respect for digging past the obvious singles — every one of these bands has an album cut that goes just as hard as the radio hit.
